7 Blog: Music


Really, I don't have very refined taste. I like to listen varied music, reggaeton, cumbia, Latin rock, New Chilean song, New Chilean wave, new-new Chilean music, classic music, 31 minutes, black metal and Luis Miguel.

My favorite band is The Prisoners because I like the simple sound they have, it’s authentic and different to another rocks bands, it’s true punk. I like the political lyrics like everyone, but I think that the best lyrics are about criticize the masculinities, for example “Sex” and male stereotypes making for Cultural Industries like “She has a television mentality”, “I demand to be a hero”. I feel identified with the political stance they have about culture, the criticize to Chilean artist, “Why don’t they go?”, “You never lose face with nobody”, etc.

The last time I’m listening to New Chilean Song a lot. I think that Violeta Parra is one most important composer of twentieth century because she took popular field music in modernization times, when people in Chile thought there was no music here. My favorite singer is Victor Jara who inherit her music. I love the Victor’s lyrics because he vindicated to workers and doesn’t make a "miserabilist" portrait, conversely, he empowers them.  

Also, I like new alternatives Chilean groups like We are the grand, Miss Garrison, Prehistoric and indie rock bands in English like “Cigarettes After Sex” and others sad bands.

I think that I’ve talked about this many times in other blogs, but I think it's very important that we know new formats and the possibilities of production and distribution of content that the internet allows. I think the concept of cinema in general is quite obsolete. The university teaches how to make "movies" but people don't go to movie theaters (except if it is the last movie of the avengers), and independent films are only seen at foreign festivals for an elite and small audience. I think the university follows the same film policy of the state and the competitive funds to make a cinema to leave a good impression to the world and not to prepare creative filmmakers who propose something really original. They should diversify the audiovisual formats they teach us, I think the concept of cinema is very romanticized (go to the cinema, big screen, with audience, etc.). Blog 5: My future job

I have planned to start an independence audiovisual production company specializing in internet contents. I would like to produced my own projects, something in the short-term and others in the long-term. I would like to work outdoors; I don’t like the office work although it’s sometimes necessary. I prefer to record that executive work, montage or postproduction. Since my last filmmaking where we recorded in Bio- Bio that I’m interested to make more projects at regions. I like to travel and knowing different places in Chile and many stories. This country has many climates, the millenary forests, the amazing lakes, the long rives, the Pampa and the beautiful sky of the Atacama Desert. Also, Chile has distinctive cultures and lifestyle, for example the people in the south have problems very different to people from Santiago, and I would like to write about us. Jimmy's Hall

The movie isn’t amazing, but it has a very interesting story to tell. It’s a drama about the politics of our actions. The film showing us that we can challenge the authorities with music and dance, culture and art. I like this because it’s a reason why I study cinema, I believe in the powerful of the art to problematize about the system and the social conflicts. My favorite character is Jimmy. The actor has a very charismatic face perfect for represent a leader. The character is confrontational, but he is also calm and direct when he should be. I like the beautiful cinematography so much. The combination of cold and warm lights impregnates the film with a very distinctive color and atmosphere. I don’t like the montage of the film in some parts of the movie because I can’t see the littles actions. The attention of the image is confusing.
